Prepare To Feel Your Best
1. Don’t eat at least an hour before a massage session.
A full stomach may cause discomfort during a massage and we want you to have the best experience as possible.
2. Be on time and don’t rush.
The feeling of being rushed may delay the relaxation process.
3. Provide total and accurate health information to the therapist.
Let your massage therapist know your expectations and reasons for the massage.
4. Make sure to know your allergies.
If you are allergic to any oils, lotions or any other herbs, tell your massage therapist so they can choose appropriately.
5. Report any discomfort.
During the massage session, report any discomfort, whether it’s the room temperature, music volume, lighting, anything. Comfort first.
6. Give feedback to your massage therapist.
During the massage, give your massage therapist feedback such as the amount of pressure, speed of hand movement, etc. Remember, this is your time – if needed, you may stop the session. Don’t be afraid to discuss any apprehensions or concerns. It’s important for you to be as comfortable as possible during your massage. Your massage therapist is a professional who is dedicated to do his or her best to help you feel at ease.
7. Make sure to breathe normally.
Breathing helps to relax. People often stop or limit their breathing when they feel anxious or when a sensitive area is being massaged.
8. Turn off your phone!
To ensure your best massage experience and the time spent with your massage therapist, it’s important to not just turn your phone on vibrate, but to turn your phone off.
After Your Massage
1. Drink extra water.
Massage is deeply relaxing. Water will help your body after emerging from its highly relaxed state, and replenish your entire being.
2. Get your next massage sessions on your schedule (and ours).
Massage has its greatest benefits over time. The therapeutic effects of massage are cumulative, so the more often you get a massage, the better you will feel and the faster your body will respond. From one session to the next, relaxation deepens as the chronic patterns of stress in the body are affected and released. If you’re getting a massage to address chronic muscular tension or recovery from a soft tissue injury, often more than one session is required.
